Constitution/Government

Constitution/Government - (Grades 9-12) Government Credit

Teacher:  Mr. John Holmlund

Time:  Friday 9:00-9:55

Class Cost:  $210

Book:  The Federalist Papers edited by Clinton Rossiter

We will show how the weakness of the Articles of Confederation paved the way for the calling of the Constitutional Convention of 1787. A biographical sketch of the chief Founding Fathers at the Convention, the compromises they worked out, and the principles they passed on to us will also be studied. We will then study the seven articles and twenty-six amendments of the Constitution in detail, concentrating on its original meaning. Furthermore, we will show how the main principles of the Constitution were based on a biblical understanding of man. We will further contrast the original meaning with modern meanings to show how far we have strayed from the original intent of our Founding Fathers. The bookstore does not carry this book. You may order the book from various websites such as Amazon.com, Barnesandnoble.com, Abebooks.com, Exodusbooks.com, and others.
