Teacher:
Mr. Bill Trinklein
Time: Friday NOT OFFERED IN 2018-2019 SCHOOL YEAR
Class and Material Cost: $425
There is a $35 materials/copy fee included in the cost of this course.
Book: None — All instructional materials are provided by the tutor in our online course management system (Moodle),
including:
full-featured user guides, videos, sample documents, and links to high-quality material on sites that are safe, secure, and free.
Supplies: Students need to have a 2½” or 3” Three-ring binder with five tabs. Students must also have access to a PC or Mac computer with an Internet connection.
***This is a 2 hour class
Prerequisite: There are no specific prerequisites, however experience with Microsoft Excel or another worksheet program at a very basic level is very handy for working with the project plan template that is provided to the students during the first week of class as a tool for completing many of the homework assignments.
This course is geared to help young men and women learn to tackle many home improvement projects and repairs. The class covers all the handyman basics, i.e. mechanical leverage, tools, fasteners, indoor and outdoor construction, electricity and electrical wiring, low-voltage systems, plumbing, small engine repair, basic automotive maintenance, and more. By applying their knowledge and experience, students learn how to save money by attempting projects on their own. Students not only learn handyman skills, but they also learn how to build materials lists, calculate costs, estimate labor and manage projects. Each class begins with a prayer and spiritual thought that is relevant and appropriate for every handyman or handywoman.
Mr. Trinklein is very excited about teaching handyman skills and working with young people. His goal is not only to help students learn these skills and have a lot of fun in the classroom, but also to provide them with something extra that will give them an advantage, regardless of the career path the Lord leads them into.
