Oil Painting - (Grades 8th - Adult) +

Teacher:  Mrs. Lorraine Dykstra

Time:  Friday - Choose between:  10:00-11:55 or 11:00-1:40

Class Cost:  $410

Prerequisite:  2 years drawing or permission from instructor.

This will truly be a workshop experience! This workshop will begin with the essential elements needed to paint successful pictures. Here you can learn “hands on” how to put a painting together right away. As we paint, we will learn about composition, value, color, temperature, and drawing. Those wishing to join this class should submit drawings to determine readiness for this class or contact the teacher. NOTE: A maximum of 10 students will be hand-picked for class. This course is a two hour course.  You can choose the 2 hours that will fit your schedule.  3rd & 4th Hour or 4th & 5th Hour.  The parents will be responsible for acquiring the materials, which are estimated to cost about $100.00.  Drawing supplies can be found at Michael’s, Hobby Lobby, T-Square, or try Blick Studio at 1-800-828-4548 (for a free catalog-great prices!) or www.dickblick.com.

Paints Needed:

  • large tube white
  • yellow Ochre
  • burnt sienna
  • rose madder (alizarin crimson)
  • burnt umber
  • French ultra marine
  • cadmium yellow light
  • phthalo blue deep
Supplies Needed:
  • tabletop easel (aluminum)
  • canvas board, or stretched canvas, 10x14, 18x24
  • palette paper 9x12
  • odorless thinner (16 oz.)
  • turpenoid (16 oz.)
  • brushes - #8 flat, #4 flat, #3 round, #00 round, #0 round

The Water Color Studio - Grades (5-Adult)

Time:  Friday - Choose between:  10:00-11:55 or 11:00-1:40
Class Cost:  $410
Watercolors can be easy with a studio class to guide the beginner.  From the tools and materials you need...to the basic techniques, it's all covered in class.  Just bring your desire to create a pleasing composition and this class will show you the joy of achieving your masterpiece.  This is a two hour class.  You can choose the 2 hours that will fit your schedule.  3rd & 4th Hour or 4th & 5th Hour.  Drawing supplies can be found at Michael’s, Hobby Lobby, T-Square, or try Blick Studio at 1-800-828-4548 (for a free catalog-great prices!) or www.dickblick.com.
Supplies Needed
  • 140 pound cold - press paper (any size) (Mrs. Dykstra suggests nothing less than 90# paper)
  • Watercolor paint kit - tube or cake acceptable
  • Brushes - #1, #3, #5 rounds and #4 flat, and 3/8 flat
The + sign means that this particular course is a supplemental course to enhance your child's education. The = sign signifies a complete course.
