  2. ABeka Science Project Guide, 6th Edition, Order #175315

Prerequisite: Students should have an understanding of multiplication and long division, as well as measurement systems.

This is an introduction to upper-level science courses and is intended for middle school age students after the completion of the elementary general science courses. The focus of this class will be learning the skills and knowledge necessary to be successful in further science courses. Students will have support in research and writing a scientific paper, completing official lab reports, and long-term projects at home. This course lays the groundwork for further middle school and high school science courses, including a firm foundation of understanding origins from a scientific creationist’s view. Our class focuses on the impact of the flood on the structure of the earth’s surfaces and fossil formation, showing that this impact is proven by the evidence. Studying the evidence of these truths helps students build a firm framework for future learning. Use of the scientific method and metric measurements will be woven throughout the year as we investigate topics such as earthquakes, volcanoes, the oceans, minerals, fossil formation, astronomy, tornadoes, and hurricanes. Each class will consist of discussion, experiments, and videos that support and broaden the student’s understanding. Throughout the week, students are expected to spend 30–90 minutes daily practicing key concepts through a variety of activities.

Ther is a $30 material fee included in the cost of this class.
