Music is a gift! While not all students are musically gifted, all students can and should be able to engage with the gift of music, learn from it, and be knowledgeable about this significant aspect of their lives. These courses have been designed to teach all students the foundations, the history, the context, and the human aspect of the music we listen to today.
Using lecture, YouTube, recorded CDs, and being engaged with the music by answering thought-provoking questions, participating in lively discussions and even singing some of the music in class with other students, we will study the six musical periods of Western civilization: Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Modern, examining them with respect to their proper cultural and historical context.
There is a $20 material and copy fee included in the cost of this class.
